Active Adult Fitness & Activities
The Thornton Active Adult Center (AAC) offers several types of fitness classes to meet your exercise needs at any level. We offer a variety of drop in classes, as well as classes that you sign up for on a monthly basis. We are also a proud member of the SilverSneakers®, Silver&Fit® & Renew Active® fitness programs. To enroll in our SilverSneakers®, Silver&Fit® or Renew Active®.please stop by the front desk from 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday to enroll. Current Class Offerings:
SilverSneakers® Classic, SilverSneakers® Circuit, Cardio Plus, Chair Fitness, Forever Young, Boom Muscle and Move-It, SilverSneakers® Yoga, Beginner Yoga, Yoga Flow, Line Dancing, Belly Dancing, Mat Pilates, Fitness Fun, Tai Chi and Zumba Gold.
Fitness Room Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fitness Orientations (FREE)
Cardiovascular Equipment Orientation: Offered four times per month in a group setting and lasts about one hour. Please call 303-255-7850 to sign-up.
Strength Equipment Orientation: Offered on an appointment basis. Orientations are done one-on-one or as a couple and last about 1 1/2 hours. Please call Sheri at 720-977-5859 to schedule an appointment.
Outdoor Recreation Trips
Hikes: Join us for guided hike. We've selected easy locations, but these activities are still physically demanding! Our hikes our rated either a 1 or a 2. 1= Easy (2-4miles round trip and/or less than 600 feet elevation gain. Generally easy terraain with little elevation gain.) 2=Moderate (4-6 miles round trip and/or 700-1,500 feet elevation gain. Mix of easy and harder terrain--rocky or short steep sections.)
Snowshoeing: Snowshoeing is the fastest growing winter activity. Why? Because if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Our ventures on snowshoes are generally up to four miles round trip, on fairly flat terrain.
Trips: Come explore the sights, sounds and tastes of Colorado by coming on a trip! From unique to fun and informative destinations and tasty restaurants, we have trip options for you.

Special Interest Activities
The Thornton Active Adult Center (AAC) offers a wide variety of special interest activities throughout the week on a drop-in basis. Feel free to stop in and check them out, there’s sure to be something that interests you.
Afternoon at the Movies: Join us on the second & fourth Tuesday of each month at 12:45 p.m. for a free movie and popcorn. List of movies is available by calling 303-255-7850.
Bingo: Every Friday & the first and last Wednesday of each month. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Prizes will depend on the number of players. 25 cents a card, or five for $1. Please call 303-255-7850 for cancellation information.
Bocce Ball (Lawn Bowling): Easy to learn, no experience necessary. See Activity Guide for dates.
Bridge: Thursdays from 12-4:30 p.m.
Bunco: Join us for this dice game on the last Monday or each month from 1-3:00 p.m.
Poker: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
Volleyball for Seniors: Drop-in Tuesday mornings at the
Community Center on Eppinger and Gaylord, for open volleyball from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. This is a good way to stay in shape for the fall league, tune up your volleyball skills and have fun with fellow volleyball players. There is no cost for seniors 55 and over during this time, however, anyone under 55 will need to pay the daily drop-in fee of 50 cents. Call 720-977-5859 for league information.
Wednesday Crafts: Preparing for their annual craft sale each December, and providing party favors and table center pieces for holiday events, this lively group keeps busy year round. Sponsored by the 55+ Organization, volunteers will lead you in simple, yet creative crafts. No experience needed. You will enjoy the fellowship of this special group as you put your hands and talents to work. The group meets Wednesdays except during Bingo days and summer months.
Wood Carvers: Come and join the "Thornton Wood Chippers" every Monday morning. Bring your wood and trusty knife. We've got friendly folks with whitlin' wisdom who will show you how to create a masterpiece. Mondays from 9-11 a.m.
Wood Shop/Pottery Studio: Mixed use space. Pottery classes are currently held on Monday evenings,Tuesday & Saturday mornings. You must be enrolled in a current pottery class to use the pottery room. Wood Shop: Tools are available for use when classroom is not in use, a release form must be completed prior to use. Users must also have valid city of Thornton ID card.
Yesteryears Singers: This talented music group performs around the community in nursing homes, other senior centers and such. Most of their songs are from the 1920s, 30s and 40s, hence the name "Yesteryears Singers." Practices are held on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. except summer months.
