The Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) Board of Directors has existed since 1991, and is appointed by Thornton City Council which may select five to 13
members to serve on the TASHCO Board for unlimited four-year terms. Members may also participate on subcommittees that meet separately and are created to support specific initiatives such as public art, community events, and the Ken Freiberg Fire Museum.
Arts & Culture staff serve as liaisons for TASHCO with Thornton City
Council, city management and city services, and provide year-round administrative, financial and logistical support for TASHCO-sponsored public art projects, community events, historical initiatives, and scheduled public meetings.
With staff support, TASHCO submits annual Tier III grant requests to the Scientific and Cultural

Council. Awarded funds are used to support various types
of community programs and events citywide including the popular
