The City Clerk’s office handles the coordination of City Council meeting documentation, Board and Commission Applications, City Elections, Liquor Licensing, Marijuana Licensing, other Special Business Licensing, and Passport Applications. The City Clerk is also responsible for maintaining City Records.

Alternatively, you can email your request for records to the City Clerk's Office. Please include the following information:
- Records being requested
- Property address (if applicable)
- Date range of documents being requested
- Any additional information that would be helpful for completing your request

Research and Retrieval
The City of Thornton charges $41.37 per hour for research and retrieval of Records. The first hour is free of charge. Any Records request that is estimated to take five (5) or more hours to complete requires a 50 percent non-refundable deposit of the total estimated amount before any additional research and retrieval begins. Payment of any incurred fees is required prior to the release of Records.
Supervision
For any in-person inspection of Records, staff supervision is billable at the rate of $41.37 per hour after the first free hour included under Research and Retrieval.

Other Materials
Requestors will be charged the actual costs for hardware supplied by the City such as USB drives or CDs.

The City Clerk’s office offers a Notary service. The cost to notarize a document is $5 per document.
