stormwater drain

Stormwater Program

Overview

  • The stormwater utility was established in 2019 to promote the health, safety, and welfare of residents by reducing the risk of flooding, minimizing stormwater pollution, and complying with the city's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. The fees collected go toward funding capital improvement projects as well as operations and maintenance activities, including:

    • Pollution prevention through public education, illicit discharge detection, construction site inspections of stormwater control measures, and good housekeeping practices for municipal operations,

    • Stormwater system maintenance, including street sweeping, storm sewer flushing/maintenance, inlet inspection/maintenance, detention pond maintenance, and drainageway maintenance. Continued system maintenance reduces the chance of flooding causing safety issues for the public and the potential to damage public and private property.

    • 5-year capital improvement program to construct stormwater improvements throughout the city in areas identified as primary flooding risks and remove structures from the floodplain.
