Streetlights: There to guide your way
FUN FACT: There are 9,167 streetlights in the city as of December 2019. Thornton owns and maintains 548 of them.
Through a multi-year program, United Power is upgrading all existing high-pressure sodium streetlights to light emitting diode (LED) lights. The LED lights use less energy and provide better light output.
Streetlight Issues
Street lights are installed after city approval, and maintained by Xcel Energy, United Power, or the city depending on the area of the city. Please call 720-977-6490 to request that the city investigate the need for a street light(s).
