Welcome to the Thornton Active Adult Center (AAC)
to the Thornton Active Adult Center A fun, vibrant, friendly place to be. If you are
age 55 or older, you are invited to spend time at the center. We offer
educational and recreational programs, fitness classes, special events, trips,
outdoor programs, health screenings and a fabulous daily meal program! Visiting
the Center is a wonderful way to meet new friends, learn a new hobby, get fit,
or take a trip to somewhere new. We also offer a host of Adult classes age 18+
in the evenings and on weekends.
Active Adult Lunches
Lunch is served at noon, Monday through Friday at the Active Adult Center (AAC). Daily lunch fees for the meal program are $4.00 for residents and $4.50 for non-residents. You may purchase a 10-punch lunch pass for $36.00/resident or $40.50/non-resident. The 10th punch is free! Special event meals may be slightly higher in fee and reservations limited to seniors.
54 and under residents who are accompanied by a 55+ participant will be charged $5.25, and 54 & under non-residents will be charged $6.25 per meal. Grandchildren under the age of 12 will pay the same rate as 55+ patrons.
Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. the business day before you join us for lunch. Please call us to make a reservation. If you have made a reservation and you are unable to attend, please call the front desk to cancel you reservation.
Special Event Meals: Join us for one of the many special event meals throughout the year. Prices may vary, call 303-255-7850 for more information.
Wine,Dine & Dance(foremerly Sunset Supper): Once a quarter we offer special evening meals with entertainment we call Wine, Dine & Dance. The menu may vary from roast pork, baked chicken or roast beef, with all the fixings, and is specially prepared by our own kitchen staff. After dinner, we provide quality entertainment for your enjoyment.
Quarterly Birthday Parties: Birthdays are a great reason to have a party! We celebrate each quarter by serving birthday cake, donated by The Villas at Sunny Acres, and by enjoying entertainment as well. Everyone is welcome to join us in the celebration, regardless if they have a birthday during that quarter.

Community Acupuncture Clinic: Treatments are available the second and fourth Friday of the month from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Treatments are done in a community style setting, with several people receiving treatment simultaneously.
Cost is $15 for 55+. Cash or check
Adults age 18-54 pay 1 ½ times the senior rate for services. We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation or a surcharge will apply.
Health Screenings: Preventative health-care services are available the first Friday of each month, 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Association. Kaiser patients may qualify for free visits. To check Kaiser eligibility, call 303-698-6496 and give your full name, date of birth, and Kaiser number.

Massage Therapy: Prices are $20.00 for 30 minutes, $40.00 for one hour. We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation or a surcharge will apply.

Podiatry Services: The Active Adult Center offers professional podiatry care with Dr. Kimberly Wilms on the third Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Services provided will be diabetic foot care; routine palliative care of calluses and toenails; evaluation of various foot deformities including bunions, hammertoes and heel pain. The cost for services is $30 cash or check.
Police Liaison: Thornton Police Department Liaison Officer, Elaine Beigler comes to the Active Adult Center when available on Wednesdays and can meet with 55+ adults during and after lunch to discuss any problems or concerns you may have. Officer DiGiiacomo can be reached at 720-977-5039.
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS): Thornton TOPS group meets weekly at the Thornton Active Adult Center. Anyone interested in losing weight, eating healthy and living a more active lifestyle can join the group. The group meets every Tuesday from 9 -10:30 a.m. at the Thornton Active Adult Center, 9471 Dorothy Blvd.
Transportation Services for Handicapped and 55+: The Active Adult Center contracts with the Adams County Special Transit program (A-Lift) to provide transportation services to active adult citizens. The Active Adult Center schedules transportation for 55+ citizens wishing to participate in the lunch program, Monday through Friday. Transportation reservations may be made by calling the Active Adult Center at 303-255-7850. Reservations must be made three business days in advance by 10 a.m. Click on any of the

File of Life: Emergency medical information provides helpful information to police, sheriff, fire and ambulance crews when an emergency is called in on 911. Local senior citizens can participate in the File of Life program by filling out an enrollment form and placing it in the magnetic pouch which is kept on your home refrigerator door.
