The canine demos will demonstrate their professional skills developed to help keep our community safe. This captivating venue showcases the incredible skills and teamwork between law enforcement officers and their highly trained dogs.

TASHCO Art Tent
Celebrate Thornton by creating art to take home with help from the Thornton Arts Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) and a community artist. Activities include painting memories of Thornton with watercolors, designing your own pennant flag or special magnet. All supplies provided.

Skate Park Competition
Get ready to show off your skills in an exciting competition with three levels of challenge for bikes, scooters and skateboards! Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there’s a category for everyone to test their limits. Don’t forget, helmets are required for safety, and a completed liability waiver is a must. Summer Slam Session 2026
A free outdoor tournament-style 3v3 basketball charity event hosted by Generational Opportunities in partnership with the City of Thornton featuring boys and girls ages 10–17 in 12U, 14U and 17U divisions. Returning for its second year after debuting in 2025, the event also includes adult 3v3 games following the youth tournament, where adult team buy-ins directly sponsor youth teams. Announcement of Volunteer Award Recipients
The recipients of the Volunteer of the Year and Youth Volunteer of the Year awards will be recognized at Thorntonfest, as part of the new Community Volunteer Recognition Program, which aims to celebrate individuals who do meaningful work in the Thornton community through a peer nomination and city staff review process.
