Please read the rental information below and complete the online TACC rental request form. Requests may be submitted up to three times a year: January-April renting window opens on November 1., May-August renting window opens on March 1, and September-October renting window opens on July 1.
- Maximum capacity = 100 people standing (reduced for banquet and theater-seating events)
- Minimum reservation request (no alcohol on premises) = 2+ weeks prior to date of approved use
- Minimum reservation request (when alcohol permit is required) = 4+ weeks prior to date of approved use
Note: Availability of rental dates is subject to change at any time. One rental is scheduled per weekend due to staff capacity.
Any adult 21 years or older who is a Thornton resident or a nonprofit group whose official address is within the city's boundaries. Nonresident individuals and groups are welcome to request use of the facility with priority given to city and local (resident) users.
Complete the online TACC rental request form. Once your form has been reviewed and approved, pay your deposit to finalize your reservation. We are unable to hold or guarantee facility availability if a deposit isn't paid for weekend use. One rental is scheduled per weekend. Requests are processed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and may be submitted online up to three times a year.
Paid facility use is scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. (Second Saturday gallery hours may affect availability.) TACC is closed on Mondays and federal holidays. Weekday use is reserved for the OZ Gallery and weeknight use is reserved for city programs. After hours facility access on weekends is dependent on 1) priority use for city and division programs, and 2) securing a facility supervisor to be onsite for the scheduled rental period.
Reservations are required for any type of TACC use on any day and must be requested and approved by Arts and Culture staff, using the TACC rental request form, before facility access is permitted. A two-hour minimum rental period is required for use of the facility on weekends. Use of the theater/gallery space is limited to one rental every four months by the same group or individual. There is no basement or kitchen access or storage space provided in the facility.
General rental information is below and subject to change at any time. Please review our use and cancellation policy completely before requesting a rental.
- Availability is dependent on city and division use and availability of TACC staff to be onsite.
- The main floor theater/gallery space can accommodate up to 100 people depending on set up.
- Set-up of tables and chairs will be completed by custodial staff prior to each rental start time.
- Access to the existing sound system and theater lighting is included in the hourly rental cost.
- When requesting use of the facility, please include additional time to set up/decorate and clean up/load out afterwards. Renters cannot enter TACC prior to their scheduled start time and must leave by the end of their scheduled rental period. Otherwise, additional charges will apply.
- To reserve the facility, a TACC rental request form must be completed online, as well as payment of a $50 rental deposit to hold the reservation when confirmed by staff. This deposit will be applied towards the remaining balance of the rental, which must be paid in full two weeks prior to facility use. A facility rental agreement is required to be initialed and signed by the renter upon receipt of the deposit.
- If alcohol is to be served, renters must complete an application for a City of Thornton Liquor License available at the City Clerk's office in City Hall at 9500 Civic Center Drive. Call 303-538-7230 or email clerk@thorntonco.gov for more information about this requirement.
- If the rental does not involve consumption of alcohol, then full payment for facility use is due 14 days prior to the first rental date.
- Facility rental use cannot extend past 10:00 p.m. on evenings and weekends; additional charges will apply for any violations.
- All evening and weekend users pay to use the facility to cover supervisory and custodial costs; a two-hour minimum is required.
- The theater space is also an art gallery; artwork cannot be altered in any way during the rental period or facility use will be terminated.
- No public, individual or group rental party are allowed access to the TACC basement/kitchen area at anytime; it is not ADA accessible.

*Use of outside equipment or contractors during your rental period requires TACC staff approval. Please do not submit a TACC rental request without getting this approval first for renter liability purposes. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Alcohol
In order to serve alcohol, a Thornton Alcohol Permit must be submitted 30 days in advance of facility use. A $150 refundable permit deposit is also required. Consumption of alcohol is only permitted for a maximum of four (4) consecutive hours between the times of noon to 10 p.m. This includes beer, wine and spirituous liquor. Cash bars are not permitted. Security is required during the serving and consumption of alcohol. (One police officer for rentals up to 149 people and two officers for groups of 150+.) Thornton will schedule off-duty police officers during the appropriate times for an additional cost.
Rental Equipment
Thornton Arts & Culture Center has several items available for rent to support your facility use: Roland Electric Piano, Projector, and Screen.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited inside the Thornton Arts & Culture Center and within 100 feet of any facility entrance.
Setup and Cleanup
City staff will set up tables and chairs for you at no additional cost. Please note that no decorations may be attached to the walls. You are permitted to tape or hang decorations only on the tables and chairs. Any damage to facility equipment, walls, or artwork will incur additional charges. It is your responsibility to remove all trash, decorations, supplies, and personal items from the tables, chairs, and stage after your event.
Artwork
Art displayed in the theater/gallery remains there whenever the facility is in use. No art shall be touched, (re)moved, tampered with or otherwise modified. If facility staff discover artwork has been altered, the individual or organization’s rental deposit shall be doubled and future use of the facility prohibited.

Rates (two-hour minimum):
RESIDENT NON-PROFIT: $45 an hour
RESIDENT INDIVIDUAL: $50 an hour + tax
NON RESIDENT: $60 an hour + tax
RENTAL DEPOSIT: $50 (applied to total fee)
No facility access for late payments
• The rental contact or organizational representative must be present at the facility during all hours of approved use.
• The rental individual or organization pays for all time spent in the rented facility including set-up and take down time.
• Smoking is prohibited in all arts and culture facilities including the gallery theater and patio.
• No decorations shall be permanently affixed in any manner to gallery art, walls, windows, doors, curtains, or adjacent areas. No holes are allowed on any surface.
• Any damage to art exhibited in the facility or to the facility itself shall be charged to the rental party and can affect future access to TACC (see Notice below).
• Absolutely no rice, confetti, glitter, birdseed, piñatas, tabletop sprinkles, open flame candles, or fire of any kind shall be used on the TACC premises.
• The service and consumption of food and beverages shall be confined to designated rental areas; no outdoor eating or drinking is allowed.
• The area(s) designated on the facility rental form will be the only area(s) which will be utilized including main floor bathrooms and lobby area.
• The responsibility of the Manager on Duty (MOD) during rental use is to open and secure the facility, be visible and responsive to the rental group, and to provide sound or lighting support as needed. The custodian and/or MOD are not onsite for any other duties.
• The City of Thornton will not be responsible for any lost or stolen articles during the time of use by an individual, group, or organization. • Unusual rowdiness or physical/verbal abuse to a staff member or patron while on Thornton property can result in immediate termination of facility use.
• Children must be supervised at all times. The rental organization or individual will maintain order and propriety for the duration of facility use.
• Alcohol service and DJ/entertainment must end a minimum of 30 minutes before the TACC facility rental period ends.
• No public access is allowed to the TACC basement at any time. Any violation of this policy will result in termination of facility use. Lack of adherence to the above guidelines may result in additional charges to the rental individual or organization, as well as termination of any future use of TACC.
Notice: Art displayed in the gallery theater remains in place whenever the facility is in use. No art shall be touched, (re)moved, tampered with, or otherwise modified. If TACC staff discover artwork has been changed in any way, the individual or organization’s rental deposit shall be doubled and not refunded.
Cancellation Policy:
• Full refund of fees paid if TACC staff receive written notice of cancellation 30+ calendar days before rental date
• Partial refund (50%) if TACC staff receive written notice of cancellation 15-29 calendar days before rental date.
• No refund 14 calendar days or less before first rental date; exceptions may apply; please check with facility staff.
