Down Payment Assistance Program - Public Input Meeting

The City of Thornton (City) intends to submit an application to the Colorado Division of Housing (DOH) for down payment assistance grant funding.  The City intends to request approximately $750,000 in DOH Proposition 123  funding to provide down payment assistance to approximately 10–12 households to purchase affordable homes within the City of Thornton. 

The requested funding would benefit households with incomes up to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI) and is intended to increase opportunities for affordable homeownership in the City. The proposed program is not intended to cause displacement from existing housing. However, if displacement does occur as a result of the proposed activities, reasonable housing alternatives will be offered.

Members of the public are invited to attend an informational meeting to:

• Learn about the proposed activity and the reasons it is being pursued.
• Ask questions about the proposed activities and the City’s housing activities.
• Provide comments and views regarding the proposed use of funding and other housing needs.
• Ask questions about community development and housing needs.

The City will hold the informational meeting on October 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at:
