In-Person Hearings
Court hearings will be held by in person appearance on Monday through Thursday. Court is closed on Fridays. Upon check-in, you will need to review the below Options on How to Proceed. Please indicate to the Court Specialist how you would like to proceed.
Your Options on How to Proceed
- You may speak with the City Prosecutor who may make an offer in your case that you can accept or reject (if you reject you can do option 2 or 3)
- You may enter a not guilty plea and set your case for trial
- You may ask to set your case over to:
- Hire an attorney to represent you
- Consult with an immigration attorney
- Apply for court appointed counsel if your charge(s) qualify
- Obtain the discovery in your matter (police reports, body worn camera, etc.)
- To think about your options

Remote Appearance - Virtual Hearings
If you are experiencing a substantial hardship appearing for Court in person, such as residing out of state or have physical limitations, you may make a request to have your matter heard virtually on a Monday afternoon by submitting the Motion to Appear Virtually form below. If your request to appear virtually is approved, you will be provided a Notice of Remote Hearing including a link to the virtual docket.
Walk-In Sessions
Walk-ins are welcome on any Monday, Tuesday or Thursday in person between the hours of 8:00 - 10:00 AM. You may have to wait until after the individuals who are present on their court ordered date have been heard before your case is called. The Court has an interpreter docket every Thursday morning starting at 8:00 AM. These cases will be called first to ensure the Court is being good stewards of its resources by releasing interpreters swiftly.
Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian when appearing in municipal court, and parents may not represent or act as attorney for their child.
Virtual Dockets / Live Streaming Coverage of Proceedings
Virtual dockets are currently being held primarily on Monday afternoons, for individuals who have received approval from the Judge to appear remotely due to a substantiated hardship. All dockets, virtual and in person, are open to the public during scheduled court docket times.
In an effort to continue to promote public access, any individual requesting to observe a criminal proceeding remotely or appear virtually may complete a Request to Observe Criminal Proceedings Remotely form below for the judicial officer to consider. Unless otherwise ordered by the Court, all parties and counsel are required to appear in person for all hearings unless they request, and are granted, a remote appearance.
