In order to expand customer service hours, Thornton Municipal Court is open 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; excluding Holidays.  Closed Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays.

Thornton Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court serving the citizens of Thornton, Colorado. The Court has jurisdiction to hear cases that deal with traffic, misdemeanor, animal, and code violations, as well as parking citations.

The Court building is open to the public.

SECURITY SCREENING AND PROHIBITED ITEMS

All persons and visitors having business with the Court shall pass through the front door and must go through the walk-through Magnetometer and their property or belongings shall be passed through the x-ray machine for the purpose of detection of weapons of any nature or any other item prohibited by law, regulation or court order from introduction into this facility by Court Security Personnel or access to the building will be denied.  Only bring items that you need that are relevant to your business with the Court.  Many items are not permitted inside the building.  AT NO TIME WILL UNAUTHORIZED ITEMS BE HELD AT SCREENING STATIONS OR LEFT WITH SECURITY.

Unauthorized items (if not deemed illegal) can be taken back to your vehicle.  If you choose to not return unauthorized items to your vehicle, items will be confiscated as unauthorized property and will not be returned to the owner.  Please reference Judicial Order 1995-1 regarding Court Security Screening and Judicial Order 2022-14 regarding Courthouse Prohibited Items and Safety Procedures.

A payment/document drop box is available and located to the right of the Court's main entrance.


DIRECTIONS TO THE COURT

The court is easily accessible from I-25 and Thornton Parkway. Head east on Thornton Parkway one block to Civic Center Drive, turn left on Civic Center Drive, and take the first left into the Justice Center. The court is located on the South end of the Justice Center just west of City Hall.


BECOMING A COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY

Any person charged before the municipal court who is financially unable to obtain counsel and who could be incarcerated if convicted of one or more of the violations with which charged may petition the court for court-appointed counsel.   If you are an attorney in good standing the Colorado Bar Association interested in representing indigent municipal court clients charged with jail eligible offenses, you may complete the Fillable Form and attach your resume for consideration.
