Below is information regarding major lane closures and detours impacting the City of Thornton. For more information about capital improvement projects, click on the infrastructure link on the right side of this page. 

120th Avenue Lane Closures

Starting on January 9th, 120 Avenue between Sylvia Drive (east of Washington Street) and the RTD N Line overpass (east of Claude Court) will be reduced to one lane in each direction at times. The lane closures are part of a City of Northglenn project that will widen 120th Avenue from two lanes to three lanes in each direction along that area. The project is scheduled to last 12 to 18 months.

88th Avenue Lane Closures

Starting on June 12th, 88th Avenue between Poze Boulevard and York Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The lane closures are for the lowering of gas lines for a storm water project. The work is scheduled to last until July 7th.

100th Avenue and York Street Intersection Closure

From 6/12/2023 at 9:00 AM to 6/14/2023 at 9:00 AM, the intersection of 100th Avenue and York Street will be closed.

The detour route for eastbound 100th Avenue traffic is to go south on Race Street to Thornton Parkway, east on Thornton Parkway to Steele Street, and then north on Steele Street to 100th Avenue. The detour route for westbound 100th Avenue traffic is to go south on Steele Street, to Thornton Parkway, west on Thornton Pkwy to Race Street, and then north on Race Street to 100th Avenue. The detour route for southbound York Street traffic is to go east on 104th Avenue to Steele Street, and then south on Steele Street to 100th Avenue. The detour route for northbound York Street traffic is to go west on Thornton Parkway to Race Street, and then north on Race Street to 100th Avenue.

This closure is for a waterline valve replacement.

Interstate 25 and Thornton Parkway Lane Closures

Starting on 6/12/2023, Thornton Parkway over Interstate 25 will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The Interstate 25 northbound off ramp at Thornton Parkway will be closed to through and left turns movements. The eastbound left turn lane from Thornton Parkway onto the Interstate 25 northbound on ramp will also be closed. The detour for northbound to westbound traffic coming off from Interstate 25 is to go east on Thornton Parkway to Washington Street, north on Washington Street to 104th Avenue, west on 104th Avenue to Huron Street, and then south on Huron Street to Thornton Parkway. The detour for eastbound to northbound traffic going onto Interstate 25 is to go east on Thornton Parkway to Washington Street, north on Washington Street to 104th Avenue, and then west on 104th Avenue to Interstate 25. 

These lane closures are for asphalt repairs at the intersection of Thornton Parkway and the Interstate 25 northbound ramp.
