2026 Event Dates

Click & Haul - bulky or large item collections

Event Dates: Click & Haul collections are scheduled during the work week, depending on your address. Thornton residents can use this service to: Get rid of clutter in the garage or basement, plan a do-it-yourself room remodel, clean up the yard or storage shed, get rid of recently replaced furniture or appliances, or for a rental property cleanup!

Location: Items must be placed in an orderly fashion (stacked/bundled) at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of the scheduled collection.

Guidelines: The cost is just $72 per collection for 6 cubic yards of stuff, which would fill two normal-sized pickup truck loads. More than two full pickup loads = $121 or more. Restrictions and limitations apply. The cost of service is placed on the next utility bill for payment. Furniture, appliances, mattresses/box springs, hot water heaters, fence panels, branches, remodeling debris, and evaporative coolers are eligible for pickup.

Restrictions: NO hazardous materials (i.e., flammable liquids, oil, paint, fertilizer, chemical cleaners, etc.). NO tires. NO concrete or masonry demolition (driveway concrete, wall blocks, or gravel). NO televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, and other certain electronics. NO dirt, sod, or rocks.

Electronic Recycling Drop-off - Spring

Date:  Saturday, May 30,2026

Time:  9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Where: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center 12450 Washington Street  Use the north entrance at 126th Ave. & Ogden St.

Guidelines: Adams County residents may drop off televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, printers, and other electronics for recycling.  There will be a fee of $15 per vehicle for all electronics up to one TV or computer monitor.  A $25 free will be assessed for each vehicle carrying up to three TVs or monitors.  Items will be recycled safely and responsibly to ensure a high level of data destruction for desktops, laptops, and other data containing equipment. 

NOT accepted at the event:  TVs and monitors with exposed tubes, anything that contains mercury, freon or other chemicals, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, thermostats, radioactive equipment, neon signs, alkaline batteries, light bulbs, trash, etc.

Electronic Recycling Drop-off Days at Pedal Point

Dates:  Weekdays, September 28 - October 9 and Saturday, October 3

Time:  Weekdays 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: Pedal Point's facility located at 3251 Lewiston St., Ste. 10, Aurora, CO (in Adams County)

Guidelines:  Adams County residents may drop off televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, printers, and other electronics for recycling at Pedal Point's facility. There will be a fee of $15 per vehicle for all electronics up to one TV or computer monitor.  A $25 free will be assessed for each vehicle carrying up to three TVs or monitors.  Items will be recycled safely and responsibly to ensure a high level of data destruction for desktops, laptops, and other data containing equipment.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Voucher Program

Dates: By appointment only.  Veolia schedules appointments one day a month January - March on the second Wednesday of the month.  Beginning in April the appointments are available on Wednesdays and one Saturday per month through October.

Location: Veolia's facility located at 9131 E. 96th Ave., Henderson, CO

Guidelines: Thornton residents may drop off household hazardous waste for recycling at the Veolia Colorado Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center.  Fees apply.  Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays only and can be made online by clicking the link below or by calling 303-526-8155.  

Voucher instructions: To receive a voucher worth the $30 facility fee only (resident is responsible for and agrees to pay the per pound fee), please send an email to environmentalservices@ThorntonCO.gov with your name and address. Please type, "VEOLIA VOUCHER REQUEST" in the subject line. One voucher per household per year. A unique voucher will be emailed to you and MUST be printed, taken to Veolia at the time of your drop-off, and handed to their attendant. Restrictions and limitations apply. Fall Leaf Drop-off

Date:  Saturday, November 14

Time:  8a.m. - noon

Where: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center 12450 Washington Street  Use the north entrance at 126th Ave. & Ogden St.

Guidelines:  Thornton residents may drop off leaves and organic material (compost) at no charge. Proof of residency is required.  Residents are responsible for unloading all material.   Use Lawn & Leaf paper bags or all other bags must be emptied on site.                                   

*NO commercial or landscaping companies.  NO dirt, sod, or rocks.

Landfill Days

Dates:  Saturday, March 21, June 27, August 22, November 7

Time:  7 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where:  Republic Services Tower Landfill  19260 E. 88th Ave., Commerce City, CO 80022

Guidelines: The gate fee is waived for Thornton residents to take non-hazardous debris to the landfill.  One vehicle load per household.  Pickup trucks, cars, and small single-axel trailers only.  Electronics and liquids will not be accepted.  Mattresses are subject to an additional fee.  All loads must be covered.  Restrictions and limitations apply.  Proof of residency is required.

Tree Branch/Organics Drop-off Days

Date:  Saturday, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12

Time:  8a.m. - noon

Where: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center 12450 Washington Street  Use the north entrance at 126th Ave. & Ogden St.

Guidelines:  Thornton residents may bring their tree branches, limbs and organic material in for recycling. Restrictions and limitations apply. Proof of residency is required. Residents are required to unload materials. Car, pickup, or single axle trailers only.

*NO commercial or landscaping companies.  NO dirt, sod, or rocks.
