FREE COVID-19 Drive-Up Testing
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
The Thornton Fire Department is offering free, drive-up COVID-19 testing for both adults and children.
If you are under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany you on the day of testing.
*It is recommended to wait 7 days to seek a test if related to an exposure.*

Thornton Fire Department is offering mobile COVID 19 testing at no charge for any City of Thornton business, organization, or association. We will come to your site or set up remotely where it may be convenient for your employees, customers, or members. Please call our COVID response team with questions or details at 720-556-3717.

of your name and your date of birth. This information must be correct to
receive your results.
Upon completing registration you will receive an email
with your registration number beginning with MX – bring this number to the
site on day of testing in order to proceed with your test.

On day of testing please bring your registration confirmation email or have it readily available on your smart device.
If you are unable to make these testing dates, there are multiple hospitals, state, local and private labs capable of conducting the testing of swabs for COVID-19. To find a location near you, view the link for testing site locations on the right.
City of Thornton Maintenance Services Center, 8651 Colorado Boulevard (follow signs and cones). This is a drive-up testing site, please do not park and get out of your vehicle. The testing site is south of the intersection at 88th & Colorado Boulevard, follow the directional signs. See map link on the right.
Registration through MAKO Medical will act as your consent for testing. The information provided during registration will automatically populate into the MAKO Laboratory testing form in order to process your test.
Your consent is for testing for COVID-19 and should you test positive, you may receive follow up communication from Thornton Fire Department, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, and/or your local Health Department.
Your information and your test results will be protected and kept confidential and will only be shared with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and your local Health Department as required by state law.
The Thornton Fire Department may use your de-identified information to improve and support our public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, de-identified information may be used to determine the number of residents tested per district to support directing resources to underserved areas.

There is no cost. However, if you have a health care provider, you are encouraged to seek testing through your provider first.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The test is a nasal swab. This test is open to anyone with or without symptoms and will detect the real time presence of active COVID-19 viruses. It will NOT tell you if you had COVID in the past.
The test takes just a couple of minutes. Testers will ask you to tilt your head back and gently insert a swab, similar to a long q-tip, into your nasal passage.
WHY SHOULD I GET TESTED? I FEEL FINE AND HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND ANYONE WITH SYMPTOMS.
Getting tested allows our Public Health team to compile a COVID-19 data baseline which helps with early detection of outbreaks and in making informed public health decisions.
Negative results show that the community is taking necessary health precautions to stay SAFE and stay OPEN.
WHAT TO BRING
Post the last four digits of your confirmation number (MX#) and your date of birth on the driver's side window before check in or have it readily available on your smart device.
For your safety and the safety of the staff at the
testing site, please wear a protective mask or face covering.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TEST
Results will be available in two to four days. To get your results, text
"MAKO" 66349 or set up an account. If you are having troubling accessing your
results, please submit a support
ticket via the MAKO website.
It remains important to minimize community spread of COVID-19 and limit your exposure by staying at home as much as possible. When you do leave home, practice social distancing, do not gather in groups of more than 10, wear a protective cloth face covering, and wash or sanitize your hands frequently.
Regardless of your test results, we know this is a difficult and stressful time. Your test is positive
Stay at home, avoid public places and public transportation (buses, light rail) until you have your test results.
Separate yourself from other household members. Use a separate bedroom and bathroom if possible.
Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Keep children and other close contacts at home if they are sick
You will receive a phone call from the Public Health department to learn if you have potentially infected others in your community.
Please remain isolated from others until you have had no fever for 72 hours, your symptoms have improved, and it has been at least 10 days since your symptoms first appeared.
Your test is negative
COVID-19 was not found in your test.
In the early stages of the virus, it may not be detected, and you could get sick later.
It is important that you stay at home until your symptoms improve, wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols to protect yourself and those around you.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR SYMPTOMS GET WORSE
Seek medical attention. Please call ahead if possible before going to any health care facility. Tell them your symptoms and that you were tested for COVID-19. Share the results if you have them. If not, let them know you are waiting for your results.
